There is plenty to see and do in South Devon, for a comprehensive (but certainly not exhaustive list!) please see below:

The English Riviera

Torquay is part of the English Riviera, a stretch of South Devon countryside famous for its stunning weather and scenery. Have a look here to see whats on!

Environment and Wildlife

The Devon Wildlife Hospital Visitor Centre is a great day out for adults and children alike, with ongoing talks and displays, the chance to meet some of our native wildlife including hedgehogs and foxes and a pets corner. The website has more information about the various species to be seen. Have a great day out and support a fantastic local charity.

Buckfast Otter Sanctuary and Butterfly Farm is a short drive from the hotel and is a small but fascinating sanctuary where you can learn about native otters as well as their overseas cousins. Do check the website for opening times.

Exe Estuary is just a half an hour car journey away and has some miles of cycle and foot paths, exceptional views, beautiful sandy beaches and is teeming with wildlife. A large area so take a look at the website for more detailed maps etc.

The fringes of Dartmoor are only a short drive away from the hotel. Dartmoor is not just about the landscape; there's a lot more to it than that. It's not just about the ponies, or the tors, the history or the heritage; but that's a good start.  It's about getting out there, experiencing new things. This living, breathing, working landscape holds the secret to a past that stretches back over the centuries, and a future that is both sustainable and green. From rare birds and butterflies, Neolithic monuments and ancient woodland, to tradition, folklore and farming on horseback, Dartmoor has it all. Leading the way for the arts, all things organic, a haven for literary greats and explorers, you will be walking in some awesome footsteps. Dartmoor was also the film location for War Horse and the Moorland Guides offer guided walks of the locations.

Pennywell Farm is a farm attraction close to the hotel with daily shows, displays and rides. A great day out for children.

The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is a horse rescue charity near Totnes. A small charity so its best to check the opening times before you go.

The RSPB reserve at Labrador Bay, just along the coast path from Maidencombe is one of the few places in the UK that is home to the very rare Cirl Bunting. It also has some fantastic views. Guided walks are frequent during the summer months - just check the website for dates.
